Sustainable, Cost-Effective Printing Options from ARC

The printing industry is based on consumption of goods that generally have a single purpose and a short life. To lessen our industry’s environmental impact, we offer an array of green products sourced from renewable supply streams or produced from comparatively environmentally benign materials.

Over the past couple of years, our green products have become increasingly popular. They help boost our customers’ “green credibility” and, therefore, attractiveness to potential clients. Use of green products can set our customers apart from the pack in a down economy.

Recycled paper is an obvious choice, but for many ARC customers, like Rick Grandy at Jag Architects in Los Angeles, it’s only the beginning. “I was amazed to find out how many options ARC has and look forward to using as many as we can,” says Grandy.

ARC’s Green Options:

Fully recyclable mounting materials: Clients can get creative by printing directly onto plywood, glass, burlap, silk, and many other recyclable substrates.

Media containing post-consumer paper: Using recycled paper is perhaps the single best way for a business to reduce its environmental footprint. Consider that ARC SoCal’s 15 locations produce approximately 5 million square feet of large-format construction documents per month. By switching to paper containing 30 percent post-consumer content, these locations conserve 743 trees, 1,194 million BTUs of energy, more than 214,619 pounds of carbon dioxide, 765,253 gallons of wastewater, and more than 65,000 pounds of solid waste each month. Calculate and compare the environmental impacts you can make with Environmental Paper Network’s online tool: www.calculator. environmentalpaper.org.

Latex printing: Our most environmentally friendly printing process comes off a 104-inch wide, roll-fed HP LX 600 printer that uses 100 percent recyclable inks and prints on a wide variety of recyclable materials.

Renewable material banner stands: Bamboo banner stands can offer a light-weight, refreshing new look for displays.

Large-format color recycling program: Through a partnership with HP, we offer colorfast printed vinyl banners that can be displayed for extended periods of time, even outdoors. At the end of their life, these banners can be shipped to the manufacturer for recycling, free of charge.

Green alternatives for use in displays: Eco-Board, Ultra-Board, and other green alternatives perform similarly to and sometimes better than petroleumbased foam and gator board.

Corrugated and chipboard binders: These binders lend a striking “deconstructed” look popular for proposals, environmental impact reports, presentation folders, and more.

On-site recycling services: Our local experts provide plan and document recycling bins and reclamation consulting.

Even small changes can speak volumes about a company’s green priorities. So continue to look for new and exciting options from us. We are always searching for more earth-friendly printing and display choices to offer so you can be both green and competitive.
