Environmental Consulting Firm Consults with ARC and Improves Printing Environment

With nine offices throughout California, Irvine-based LSA has been helping everyone—from local governments to transportation agencies to school districts—navigate the tricky landscape of environmental regulation.

Over the past 40 years, LSA has built a reputation on its expert knowledge of state and federal laws, including the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

While LSA is highly proficient in creating environmental impact reports covering such topics as air and water quality, noise pollution, climate change, and sustainability, printing these reports is not their domain. That’s why ARC Document Solutions is a vendor.

“ARC’s print quality and customer service is outstanding,” said Office Manager/Associate Natalie Frey.

ARC worked with the environmental consulting firm when Frey was hired back in 2007, but not when she was later promoted to Office Manager in 2013. That’s because a few years earlier, LSA had decided to shift printing gears.

Printing Perseverance

LSA’s new print vendor came armed with a Managed Print Services (MPS) program similar to the one ARC had provided. The company supplied the printers, copiers, and plotters and charged a monthly fee that included maintenance, toner, and paper.

In addition, the company installed print cost recovery software that monitored what was being printed on any given machine and for which client. It was a great way to bill back exact costs.

During this time, ARC staffers kept in touch with Frey, checking in on a regular basis to see how things were going and to offer to help in any way they could.

ARC’s perseverance paid off. When the opportunity presented itself last year, LSA welcomed back ARC.

Change Is Good

“What really impressed me was how patient ARC was when it came to getting our new equipment,” recalled Frey. “They took me to see a variety of printers, copiers, and plotters so I could compare and get the best ones.”

Once the machines were selected, ARC set up its MPS program and print cost recovery solution, known as AbacusPCR. After a year, things are still going well.

“They’ve raised the quality of our technology considerably,” said Frey. “And because they’re so proactive in how they go about their business, our needs are always being met.”

And while the quality of LSA’s technology has been raised, the firm’s costs have gone in the opposite direction.

“ARC has saved us a lot of money because of their lower cost per print,” she added. “They really do it all.”
